Carolina Pad™ Helps Build a Home with Habitat for Humanity Charlotte

For Immediate Release

CHARLOTTE, NC – December 22, 2008 –Employees from Carolina Pad (www.carolinapad.com), a leading supplier of fashion school and office products, recently helped build a Habitat for Humanity (http://habitatcharlotte.org) home. Fifteen employees from the company’s Charlotte headquarters spent a day putting up drywall in a single-family home in a local neighborhood. The five-bedroom, two-and-half bathroom home is scheduled to be completed at the end of January.

Earlier this year, the company initiated a “Commerce with a Conscience” program that focuses on charitable giving and community service from both a company and employee perspective. Encouraged by this program, Tanya Strong, from the company’s accounting department, presented the idea of supporting Habitat. “It was something I’ve always wanted to do and I thought my co-workers might like to join me,” said Strong.

After getting the full support of company CEO and President Clay Presley, several employees enthusiastically signed on to the project.  “I really feel honored to be able to help a family get a home of their own, especially now, when times are so tough,” said Strong.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to give back to the community,” said Presley, who allowed employees to spend a workday participating in the effort. “Carolina Pad encourages employee participation in community service activities, even if that means giving them a day off now and then to do so.”
